AirPrint is Apple’s built-in printing technology that allows iPhone, iPad, and Mac users to print wirelessly without installing extra drivers or software. With AirPrint, you can:
Print emails, web pages, photos, and documents directly from your iPhone.
Avoid extra apps or setup processes.
Connect instantly as long as your iPhone and Canon printer are on the same Wi-Fi network.
Step 1: Check AirPrint Compatibility
Most modern Canon Pixma and Canon MegaTank printers support AirPrint. To make sure your model is compatible:
Look for the AirPrint logo in your printer’s manual or packaging.
Visit Apple’s official list of AirPrint-enabled printers.
If your Canon printer is listed, you’re good to go.
Step 2: Connect Your Canon Printer to Wi-Fi
Before your iPhone can use AirPrint, your Canon printer needs to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network:
1. Turn on your Canon printer.
2. Press the Setup (gear) button on the printer’s panel.
3. Select Wireless LAN Setup.
4. Choose your Wi-Fi network name (SSID).
5. Enter the Wi-Fi password and confirm.
Once connected, the Wi-Fi icon should appear on the printer’s display.
Step 3: Print from iPhone with AirPrint
Now that your Canon printer is on Wi-Fi, you can print directly from your iPhone:
1. Open the app or file you want to print (e.g., Safari, Mail, Photos).
2. Tap the Share icon (square with an arrow).
3. Scroll down and select Print.
4. Tap Select Printer and choose your Canon printer.
5. Adjust settings (number of copies, pages, etc.).
6. Tap Print.
Your iPhone will send the document to the Canon printer instantly.
Troubleshooting Tips
If your Canon printer doesn’t appear on the iPhone:
Make sure both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
Restart both your printer and iPhone.
Ensure your Canon printer’s firmware is up to date.
If your Wi-Fi network has multiple bands (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz), connect both devices to the same one.
As a backup, you can use the Canon PRINT app from the App Store.
Connecting your Canon printer to iPhone with AirPrint is quick and requires no extra apps or drivers. Once your Canon is connected to Wi-Fi, printing from your iPhone is just a few taps away.
This feature is especially useful for students, professionals, and home users who want to print documents, assignments, or photos on the go.
